Upon hearing the news that his father had been confined to a 2' x 2' x 2' kennel by a wicked veterinarian for 30 days to repair a herniated disc in his spinal column, Nero (living in Los Angeles) wrote the following letter:
Dear Daddy,
I am very sad that you are not feeling too good. Michelle says I can't jump off the bed anymore or I won't feel too good either. Claudia and I are sending you dergie vibes so that you get better soon!!!!!
I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!!
Lots of licks,
Nero
Landon's response:
Dear son,
Thanks for your note. I was feeling pretty bad and every time Heidi or Gabriel picked me up it would hurt like heck and I would cry so they would put me down but I really wanted them to pick me up again so it was like mixed feelings you know? I had to go to the vet yesterday and I really hate that...she's mean. And now I don't know what's going on...I'm locked up in a cage ALL the time, even to eat, and they only let me out to pee and poo. And your sister gets to run around all she wants. Last night Heidi gave me some weird kind of milk and it made me feel sleepy and woozy. It was pretty cool actually...suddenly jail didn't seem to bother me that much...but now I'm back to cry cry cry to see if they'll let me out. So far it's not working.
Well son, take care of yourself and make sure you don't do anything bad so that you don't end up like me. Anything you can do to spring your old Dad from lock-up would be appreciated.
I love you! Hope to see you soon...it's been way too long.
Love,
Daddy
Letters from friends:
Dear Nero's Father. I don't know you, but I know your parents and my parents are very good friends. I'm just writing to wish you a quick and nice recovery. I've been through something very similar, and I know it's not easy to let humans know what to do in a situation like this. You've got to have A LOT OF PATIENCE with your parents. Remember: anything they do, they do it because they love you. Take care and good luck!
