Lost and Tacos

We celebrated the return of LOST by turning our dining room table into a tropical scene. Tacos are far from castaway food but we made them for the season finale and that day I declared we would have tacos again for the premiere. Friggin ABC marketers had me thinking it was a 2-hour premiere by announcing it that way for weeks. JANUARY 31st....LOST RETURNS...WITH A TWO HOUR PREMIERE EVENT. Then it turned out that the first half of those two hours was a one hour recap during which they announced LOST PREMIERE COMING UP NEXT. I hate being fooled like that! Anyway, we had great fun in our tv tropical jungle, the tacos were great, and we're still lost (pardon the pun) as ever with this plot that gets weirder and weirder, but it's still a great show to me. Thanks to Carmen and Gian (friends and fellow Lost freaks) for joining us!

I heard the hooplah, everyone was talking about it. It was on every morning talk show, every news program, swept awards shows over and over again, and yet I resisted for years. Finally, I decided to make the leap into the world of Federal Agent Jack Bauer, and now I can't get out. My life right now revolves around a bowl of freshly popped corn and 24. Last night we finished Season 2 and I want to kill the bitch who dared to put her germ-ridden hands on President Palmer. Now I have to sneak into my Dad's place and steal Season 3 without him finding out because he says I can't have until he's done...but I CAN'T STAND IT! Jack Bauer...what have you done to me?

Desperate Housewives become Amas de Casa Desesperadas

I was surprised to find out that ABC has decided to use the hugely successful 'Desperate Housewives' to capitalize on the ever-popular genre telenovela in Latin America. Apparently they've already built a replica of Wysteria Lane in Buenos Aires, Argentina called Calle Manzanares. The cast has already been chosen (pictured here) and the remake is scheduled to air this year. The changes they will have to make due to cultural differences will be interesting to see. In order for 'Amas de Casa Desesperadas' to ring true (as much as it can with all its craziness!), some plot and character changes will definitely have to be put into place. I wonder how they'll deal with Mike the plumber who in Latin America would never be living on Calle Manzanares! More info here.
